“Our party will fight against any member of the government who tries to use public resources to manipulate votes in favor of their candidates or parties,” opposition Organization of People in Struggle’s leader, Sauveur Pierre Etienne, told Efe Wednesday.
Following the recent political negotiations, Haitian President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Evans Paul conceded the Interior Ministry to the opposition Inite (Unity) party, created by former president Rene Preval.
“When you give a party like Inite a department as important as the Interior Ministry, which is directly linked to the organization of the elections, we have reason to be worried,” said Pierre Etienne.
Martelly and Paul have repeatedly warned the cabinet ministers against using public resources and privileges for electoral benefits. via: La Prensa
