Five Years After: Haiti Is Ready For Tourists – Forbes

Minister of Tourism Stéphanie Villedrouin is singing much the same tune these days, wisely turning to Haiti’s rich music and arts culture to promote the country, as well as letting beaches that rival any in the Caribbean lure newcomers, and those from the enormous Haitian diaspora with a longing to return more often. To make it easier to get to Haiti, just over a year ago, JetBlue began flights from JFK and Ft. Lauderdale, and American Airlines added a route from Miami to Cap Haïtien in the north. Authorities are actively planning to expand domestic runways as well for some of the country’s potential top resort areas like the offshore island Île à Vache in the south (many locals for now, however, want to know that they too will benefit). via Forbes
