World Bank approves US$58m grant for Haiti — JamaicaObserver.com

wbThe World Bank says it has approved US$58 million grant that will assist an estimated 190,000 producers, investors and members of agricultural organisations in Haiti have improved access to local markets and services.

The Washington-based financial institution said the grant, from its International Development Association (IDA) subsidiary, aims to attract public and private investment, and build resilience to climate shocks.

“Agriculture is a key sector for the region, which is highly vulnerable to natural hazards and where producers are isolated and lack of reliable roads to connect production to processing sites and local markets,” the World Bank said. via – JamaicaObserver.com
