Haiti was rocked by anti-government demonstrations today which were basically a continuation of relatively smaller demonstrations over the past couple of weeks. On the anniversary of the Battle of Vertieres, a decisive battle in Haitian history, people have decided to rise up and express their disappointment with the Martelly administration.
The demonstration, which started in Bel Air, wound it’s way up Delmas where the police fired tear gas into the crowds, who responded with rocks. When the demonstration got to to Petionville, there was more rock throwing, mass panic and running.
As I write this, I can still hear many demonstrator on Delmas 60. May be part of a different group. via Pascal Antoine
