Comfortable in His Snakeskin – NYTimes.com

Earlier, Stella Jean, a young Italian-Haitian designer whose career has been propelled by the local Who’s On Next competition, got another boost from Giorgio Armani, who offered his theater for her show. Ms. Jean, a former model, combines elements from different cultures to create ball gowns and suits in bright globally sourced textiles, so that you might find a chartreuse skirt with large zebras embroidered in sequins, or a T-shirt with the image of an Italian movie poster, or a dress printed with papayas and coconuts.

The designs seemed out of place with everything else going on at Milan Fashion Week, but it’s also the sort of look that will appeal to people who dress to be noticed, and that includes most of the audience here. via  – NYTimes.com
