GREENSBORO, N.C.: Miami Hurricanes men defeat N.C. State, advance to ACC tournament final – UM –

Durand Scott doesn’t get the media attention Shane Larkin or Kenny Kadji get, but ask any of his University of Miami teammates or coaches, and they will tell you that the hard-nosed senior from the Bronx is the heart and soul of this Hurricanes team.

He was voted the ACC Defender of the Year, and Saturday during the ACC tournament semifinal, he proved he’s a lethal scorer as well, with a career-high 32 points in an 81-71 win over North Carolina State. Scott scored 11 of Miami’s first 14 points. He had 19 by halftime.

And he wasn’t done. Dashing around the court in his florescent highlighter sneakers, he gave the Wolfpack fits and . He drove through traffic to the basket like the daring South Florida drivers on I-95. When he wasn’t beating them inside, he was launching rockets from the perimeter.

A day earlier, his no-holds-barred halftime pep talk fired up the Canes for their second-half comeback against Boston College in the quarterfinal. via –
